
A CAFCASS pilot in Warwickshire and Coventry using Family Court Advisers (FCA) in the early stages of court proceedings has reduced the number of cases reaching court.

- 40% of cases were settled outside of court in the pilot, compared to the national average of 25%
- Diversion of cases in the pilot was largely achieved through positive work with family networks to establish kinship care arrangements without recourse to care proceedings
- The average length of care proceedings where an FCA was involved was 36.3 weeks, compared to the 42.6 weeks for cases not using an FCA in the pre-proceedings.
