A Staunton charity has reached the finals of a national competition.
Community Family Care pitched for a slice of the Aviva Community Fund which offers grants to community projects that make a difference – and it needed public votes to succeed.
Now CFC family care manager Sasha Brown has been told its Art Journal Project won enough votes to get through.
The project supports children who have difficulty coping to express their thoughts and feelings through art, boosting their emotional wellbeing and promoting positive mental health.
The aim is to run 12 groups across Gloucester and Tewkesbury.
The scheme was nominated by Blackdown Financial Services on behalf of CFC.
“We’re over the moon,” said Sasha.
“There were five million votes cast in the first round, so to get this far is a real achievement.
“We couldn’t have done it without Blackdown and our lovely supporters. So fingers crossed we make it past the last fence.”
The winners will be announced on January 10.
Community Family Care, based in Staunton, helps families, children and young people in need of support. It seeks to improve parents’ confidence, help with routines to get children to school, or more complex support dealing with challenging behaviours at home.
