
A survey by charity 4 Children and Netmums shows that the Government’s proposed changes to school holidays and authorised absences cause major concern for millions of parents.

- 77% of parents in the UK are concerned that major changes to school holiday dates will make it harder for parents with children in more than one school
- 34% of parents would prefer holidays to be split more evenly throughout the year, while 38% are happy with the way they are
- Almost two thirds (62%) of parents disagree with the Government’s decision to stop head teachers granting authorisation for parents to take their children out of school
- Over two fifths (41%) believe there are legitimate reasons for parents to take their children out of school occasionally, for example for important family occasions
