Cafcass has published annual statistics for the number of care applications made for children involved in family proceedings, between March 2012-2013.
Key finding from the statistics include:Cafacss has also seen an increase in the number of family court applications following parental separation. In total Cafcass received 45,881 new private law cases between April 2012 and March 2013. This is a 10% increase on the 41,817 cases received in 2011/12.
- - In March 2013 Cafcass received 925 applications, a 3% increase on March 2012
- - Between April 2012 and March 2013 there was an 8% increase in the number of applications compared to April 2011 to March 2012
- - In February 2013 998 applications were received, the highest ever recorded by the organisation in a single month
